harley_sr Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Hey i was looking at a Ricky Stator Plate. Are they worht the money? What does Advancing the timing on a banshee do? i am new to all this.. Quote
superchicken Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 ive had one now for 6 months no problem at all.advancing the timing gives you more timing advancement throughout your timing curve, hence more advance =more power, but there is a down side to much advance will lead to dentonation and overheating.most run 4 degrees for mild engines. harley_sr Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 So I could do a +2 on timing and be ok... Right? Quote
sredish Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 you can run a +4 and be all right. really, you can run more than that, but Banchetta has ran some dyno tests and found that +4 is about the best overall. That setting also poses no real problems with your machine and unless you have over 155 lbs of compression requires only 92 octane. Honestly, if your going to advance it, there's no reason to do any less than +4, +2 isn't going to make much difference anyway. for even more throttle response, let boonman lighten your flywheel for you while your plate comes. He can have it back to you by the time your plate comes generally and really works well with the advanced timing. just pm him for price, and it ain't much. Later. Quote
