Maverick302 Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Sheeeit. As a few of you may know my shee was smoking a little on the left side. Well today when I went to start it, it ran like sh!t. The left side was putting out barely any exhaust and it was cold. If I pull the lead on the left it stalls so it's firing and all. Do you think I have a leak somewhere? I wanna get this thing fixed and sealed and maybe sneak in a stroker crank while its apart Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 27, 2004 Author Report Posted July 27, 2004 It must be something with the carbs, cause its leaking gas everywhere. Damn, no stroker today. Well I guess it's a good thing lol. Quote
SDD Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Remove the pilot jet on the side that is cold at idle. Hold the pilot jet up to the light and see if there is something plugging up the pilot jet. I normally use a wire twist from a loaf of bread to unplug the ones I have come across. Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 27, 2004 Author Report Posted July 27, 2004 Just took the carbs apart and cleaned everything, nuthin was missing or out of place, reeds were fine, so I put it back in and it still ran like shit. Then I come down and check the forums and see you tell me to unscrew the pilot jet. haha just my luck i guess. well im gonna go unscrew the pilot jet if its not clogged im takin apart the top end. 100th post...WOOHOO! Maverick302 Posted July 28, 2004 Author Report Posted July 28, 2004 Nope...Pilot Jet was fine. Looked ok when i gum cuttered (cutted? idk) everything. Took it out this time and it was still squeaky clean. Now It's spewin oil out the pipe (tranny oil? shit). It's startin to look like I'm gonna have to split the cases. Any help is still appreciated. Maverick302 Posted July 28, 2004 Author Report Posted July 28, 2004 Ok...took off all the front plastics, gas tank, left carb + pipe, any last opinions before i get started tomorrow? Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 29, 2004 Author Report Posted July 29, 2004 I feel like im talking to myself here. OMG I AM....its dark...im lonely....no...help....stay away.... Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 30, 2004 Author Report Posted July 30, 2004 Haha...anyway, stupid compression tester is completely shot. Time for a new one. One last overlooked piece of info...The left carb had to be run with the choke on. IF THERE IS ANY RELATION TELL ME!!! I don't fell like finding out it was a carb problem (like sweetshee) after takin it all apart. Thanks and any help IS APPRECIATED! Quote
ledofthezep Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Have you pulled the carbs & checked them out? Is the choke tube in place? Quote
racer Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 The left carb had to be run with the choke on. what? there is only one choke. that also means its lean on the jetting. give us your mods and what your jetting is at and maybe youre just a little low on the mains. Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 30, 2004 Author Report Posted July 30, 2004 There are chokes on each carb (they're 28mm Mikuni Flatsides). To be totally honest I don't know the jetting (NYUK bought it from a girl, who bought it for her boyfriend, they broke up, she sold it, didnt know anything, etc...), but it runs (ran) fine with the choke on, so jetting isn't my problem. I think my engine problem messed up the carb tuning (right is perfect, and they have the same setup) or some crazy shit like that. Anyway, I have the carbs, coolhead w/ 20cc domes, fmf fatties/turbine cores, Two stage foam filter, no snorkel, don't know internals, but will find out soon. I like to know whats inside my engine. Thanks for the help. Quote
