sometime around the very end of September or Beginning of October we will be heading for Hatfield-McCoy in WV. It's one of the biggest trail haven's on the East Coast. For the Last 2 years we've gone for a week and have only explored the Rockhouse Trail System and are just now getting used to riding it.

It is insane riding to say the least, and if you want something that will push you to your riding limits, it is definitely the place. There are hillclimbs that just go on forever, nice flat corners that you can hit in third that just overlook valley after valley, and days of riding that you wont see the same thing twice. We will be hitting up Rockhouse again this year (starting to know our way around so its more fun), and to make it from one trailhead to the other I've always carried a 2 gallon gas can on my back in a backpack. They have been cutting in new trails from the top part of the system to the bottom part that cuts out this one long trail that wraps real far out and then back in, so you might be able to make it on a tank of gas.

Make sure your quads are reliable (there are people that have quad type vehicles with trailers that will get you out for a fee), and that you have skidplate protection and some good strong tires that have some good bite. I recommend getting a new set of 6 plys. My holeshots did pretty good there the first year, but the second time I went down there they just wanted to spin everywhere. My mudsharks did good, and so did the blackwaters. It's hard to tell if its gonna rain or not (it has almost every day we were down there each time), but when your riding, if you come around a mountain it'll be raining on one side and not on the other (clouds run down between the mountain crests)

In the next couple weeks we will be setting a date of when we are going, it might even be as early as the end of august beginning of september (they have a dirt days thing down there or something that we like to hit up the last weekend of it to watch the drag races and hillclimb and recover from the long drive)

Any and all are welcome to come, there are quite a few places to stay in the surrounding area. It is a great time and unbelievable riding. I'll post a few pictures when I get a chance. On a side note, I'll be running my IMS tank this year (had to buy it since I got a helmet camera that I'm gonna be using in my backpack, if I can get the damn sound to work)
