I was going to do new pistons but since my bike is such a low hour machine I figure I'll just throw some new rings on it. Any tips you guys have for this operation would be cool. I am going to do this on saturday at my warehouse since I don't have a garage. I know the basics but the only bikes I have rebuilt are singles a 125 and a 250.

Thanks

Like the cross-hatch pattern that a ball hone leaves. That's all I did when I re-ringed, just ball-honed the cylinders. Take a look at the ports when you're done and make sure there's no sharp edges, you might need to chamfer them just a lil.

I'm sure you won't have any probs, like tats said it's just everything (but the head) X2. It never hurts to double check the bore for wear, and mic the piston skirts, but other than that just get the ring end gap right and you're stylin'. Oh yeah, don't forget to follow the torque pattern on the head and jugs.

Kool, thanks alot Ben, I figure the ring end gap is kinda hard to fook up so that shouldn't be a problem...I'll run some thick gas through her this weekend when I'm done and let cha knwo how long it took.

You definitly should do the cross hatch to break the glaze on the cylinder walls so that the new rings will seat properly . Also dont load up on to much extra oil in the gas that will just lean her out and dont forget to take it easy its like a new break in now that you honed it and re -ringed it good luck
