mrman99 Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Im in the process of putting together the engine. Am i better off putting the jugs and head on and assemble the engine complete and put it back in the frame, or is it bettter to put the jugs and head on after the engine is in place? I rather put the whole thing togeter outside of the frame, but unsure if it will fit with the jugs/head already mounted. Quote
banshee04le Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 If you have a nice frame paint job, do it like the book says and put the bare assembled crankcase back in the frame and build it up from there. It's easier that way anyway. Quote

I have to get my frame to sit on the ground, then heave ho the engine onto some wooden blocks that are in the engine basket, then jack the frame up and put bolts in, etc. Plus I've always wrapped my frame in flannel, and there isn't alot of room sometimes and I've ended up digging the flanned out or yanking it out with a pair of plyers. svtkid78 Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I like putting it in the frame assembled. If you are worried about the frame wrap it like cotton eye, but I have found it easier to reassemble out of the frame. Just put the rear engine mount bolt in first. It's easier then to get the front in. Quote
BdBanshee Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I like to assemble it on the bench, and then drop it in. Either way is fine, everyone has a different opinion. Quote
