sand rocket Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 i have been trying to jet the shee to run at 9000-12000 ft. Everythings runs ok but the needle circut. THe mains are good at 320. the pilots are good at 25 or 27.5. I have the needle on the very top notch. And i still get the bog when pining it. when it clears out . Does any one have a sugestion? do they make different needles? Were can i find them? thanks. Quote

Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 At that altitude you need as much air as you can possibly flow, if the airbox lid is still on, then take it off, if the clip is allready at the top then there's not much else you can do as most aftermarket needles differ only in the taper and the length of the taper. sand rocket Posted July 7, 2004 Author Report Posted July 7, 2004 funny that you metion that. I just put the set that i have have from the jet kit that i have had for a while to try out. Being longer would that have the affect of slowing down the flow? Quote

sredish Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 (edited) Yea, I'd say an experimentation with the needle is in order. Try a dynojet, or call www.carbparts.com and discuss with them and they'll set you up with maybe a couple to give your ride what it needs. Also, as JJ said, airflow is important. Get a k&n pro flow if you don't already have one or the Toomey 2:1 filter kit for the best flow setup. Edited July 8, 2004 by sredish Quote

If it's only when your pinning the throttle wide open, then it's your main jet and not the needle. Have you ran a plug check at the altitude to see what it looks like? I suggest running a WOT plug test and then tell us what the plug looks like. Look for the color around the ring and the ground strap.
