Do I need brake/head lights?

Do I need brake and head lights for riding? My brake light doesnt like my new 6-pack rack mount, so its not on...Nor do I think it WORKS... but, I just wanted to know if it was a rule by the DNR or something that you need break and headlights.. I live in Michigan if that matters.

well seeing that yours is an 87 it doesnt have a brake light its just a tail light...the rest i dont know

i dont have a break light...an no1 eva stops me for it?...im in mass...idk if that matters or not

I do like the brake light for night riding and when hitting the tight trails. I took it off when I first got it, but it didn't take me long to put it back on. Headlights, oh yea, only the best of headlights.

i have headlights jus for trails an night...i see no need for a break light...?

hockey, check with where ever you ride. i know in the dunes in cali a rear light is required weather your riding at night or in the day as well as headlights. i have front lights but havent had a rear light on any of my shees for years. someday it will catch up to me but for now, im lightless.
