brandon91 Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 i had my cool head blow off on the shee i got the holes drilled and heli-coiled but a buddy thinks my crank might be bent due to the pressure needed to blow the head he thinks it would bend the crank too? it this true it is a vitos crank i dont want to have to split the case but let me know what u guys think! thanks brandon Quote
Blacksmith Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 How much compression were you running? Is the crank welded? Did you have to fix all 10 holes? If so, how deep was the damage, 2 or 3 threads or down deeper? Quote
fixitrod Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 If the whole thing blew off you must have coolant leaking in there or something. Strange. Coolant in the cylinder can bend a crank. Well, if you have it back together already and it vibrates more than it use to, it's bent If you can't tell by looking at it, take the bike to a shop and let them check it out. They should be able to tell even with the crank in the case... not with the cylinders on of course. Quote
brandon91 Posted May 27, 2004 Author Report Posted May 27, 2004 i am not shure on the compression it had 15 cc domes and the guy was running alky it only bley 2 studs out Quote

If he took the cylinders off to have the heli coils put in, have the crank checked. If it were mine that's what I'd do. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 (edited) yea it sounds like the head was not threaded properly or it was overtightened and stripped. I'm a little lost as to how the entire head would fly off from having a bent crank? Wouldnet you have damage on the head besides the threads? Edited May 27, 2004 by Justintoxicated Quote
