ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Hey all,...wondering where's the best place for me to get a shift shaft? The forks are bent out & only grabbing the outer edge of the pegs on the shift star. I figure since shee's all apart, I have the clutch out(rod & ball weren't welded-thank god), I may as well replace the shift shaft with a new one that's not bent like mine. Anyone know of aftermarket ones or have any suggestions as to where to buy one other than the local stealer? Also...what's everyone use to hold the clutch boss while undoing the nut holding it on?....need to get that off so I can replace the shaft. Thanks! Quote
cb67rs1 Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 i think i may have one if your interested. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 Is it new? You can PM me with details. Thanks a lot! Quote
cb67rs1 Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 its not new but seems to be in good shape. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 Well shit, I'll probably just go ahead & get a new one. I could probably bend mine & make it work, but I'd just assume fix it with a good new one. Thanks for the offer though, I do appreciate it. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 $42.38 from the local stealer. Quote
00BANSHEE Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Hey Led, Call Jeff at FAST Racing in Holton, KS. 785-364-5325 Ask him about the modified shift shaft he sells. Shifts like butter. Tell him I sent ya. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 A modified shaft!??? Got any pics? Sounds interesting, I'll give him a call when I get a minute. They got a website? I've heard of them before...Thanks! Quote
00BANSHEE Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 I don't think he has a website, but he should. He builds some of the fastest banshees down at LS. He has new shift shafts in stock last I heard. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 17, 2004 Author Report Posted May 17, 2004 Yepper, I called. He's got them in stock, cheaper than my stealer, so I'm going to order one from him tomorrow. He said that he mods them, but since mine is fubar he'd just go with a new one. So I'll probably just order a new one through him. Thanks 00BANSHEE! Quote
BdBanshee Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Take a pic of the modified one and post it so we can see the difference from a stock one. I am interested in the results also. Thanks, Ron. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 yeah let us know about this modded shaft deal Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 20, 2004 Author Report Posted May 20, 2004 (edited) May be a while, I'm going to have to hold off for the time being. I got a bill from the college yesterday to the tune of $576.97 for shit my loan wouldn't cover. So yeah,...gunna be awhile. I just bent my fork back in a cooch hair and am going to shim the shit out of it so it won't slide hopefully. Took the shee to get sandblasted today, the guy's cutting me a deal...so I can scrape some change to get that done and I have to pick up my paint today because I had to order it in and they'll ship it back if I don't pay for it today. Sucks, I really wanted to get that shit fixed now while I have it apart, but being the broke ass I am I can't afford all this shit at once, so it will have to wait. I too am just as interested the rest of you are on this deal. When it rains...it's a fucking monsoon around here. Edited May 20, 2004 by ledofthezep Quote
