brunton19 Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 I locked my banshee up last fall at a MX race in Indiana. I rebuilt and while doing so I decided to go ahead and put new fibers and plates in my clutch. I used the company Factory FX I think which are supposed to be factory replacement, so I reused the rubber cushions. I know that the upperend aftermarket kits recommend not using these cushions but seeing how this was an OER part I thought it would be better to use them. I just moved to Georgia and went riding for the first time since the rebuild and my clutch fades and goes away when I am less than half idle. As soon and I wind it back out the clutch comes back. I don't know anyone at any shops here so I have no one to ask. Anyone have any ideas of whats wrong? Should I take those cushions out? Quote
zzzz Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 What do u mean the clutch *fades and goes away"? Does the bike start to move when you have the clutch lever in all the way? Maybe you just need to adjust it. Follow the clutch cable to where it enters the case. There is an arm that moves when you pull in the clutch. On that arm is an arrow. Also on the crankcase there is another arrow. Make sure those 2 arrows are pointing at each other. If not then you need to adjust the clutch. If by chance you have to readjust the clutch, get rid of the rubber rings while you're in there. Quote
