wayne88 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I have a 2000 banshee, its is completly stock and allways ran great. Last year when I pulled it out after winter it was only running on one carb. so I pulled off the carbs. and cleaned them out. Then it ran on both carbs but leaked gas out of the overflows so I replaced the fuel valve assemblys and that fixed the leak problem. But the motor started breaking up under high throttle, I replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the air filter, emptied the exaust pipes of oil, changed the oil, and rechecked the carbs. The throttle pins open at the same time, and I cant find nothing wrong. I have a shop manual and did all work per it. The bike ran fine when put away for winter and had periodic starts during winter. The bike didnt run long on one carb so I dont think any damage was done there. The bike runs good except at open throttle and Im out of ideas. The motor breaks up and loses power when wide open. Any help would be appreciated. Fellow banshee lover. Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Smells like stator. Same shit mine was doing. I checked EVERYTHING before I replaced my stator. It started & ran great up until WOT(Wide Open Throttle), then it would spit, sputter, backfire...shit all over itself, but only at WOT. $140 and a new rickystator stator on an adjustable plate, advanced the timing 4 degree's & Shee is screamin! Have you tried disconecting your TORRS? Still have E-brake assymbly? Quote
spoin39 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Are you sure the main is big enough? Quote
banshee04le Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Yeah, sounds lean to me too. I think you should take your carbs apart and REALLY clean them this time. I can almost gaurantee that all that was needed when you replaced the float valve assy was a good cleaning and adjustment. Your problem right now I would bet is mains that are at least partially blocked by some foreign matter (dirt or old fuel that has gone to varnish). You have to blow air or carb cleaner under pressure through all jets and passages. Come back if that don't fix it but that is where you need to start. Tell us what mains you have when you get in there. Quote
