chipdog Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 i just recently took out my degree key and put the stock one back in and i just moded the stater plate to 4 degrees and i just went riding and everything was fine till it started bogging hard where i would rev it and it would gargle like under water then after a little bit it went away and now it revs to high and the power band doesnt kick in till 30 seconds after i press the gas. i took off the flywheel cover and turned my wheels and the flywheel didnt move , then i moved the flywheel to see if it moved to gears but all it does is spin without grabbing anything. i could still drive and switch gears but theres no power. can anyone tell me the problem or problems. its pissing me off. svtkid78 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 sounds like you sheered your woodruff key Quote
chipdog Posted March 9, 2004 Author Report Posted March 9, 2004 the woodruff key is still in place. Quote
chipdog Posted March 9, 2004 Author Report Posted March 9, 2004 the woodruff key is still in place. the whole shaft doesnt move when tire are moved & vice versa Quote
chipdog Posted March 9, 2004 Author Report Posted March 9, 2004 may be time to split cases whats that Quote
chipdog Posted March 10, 2004 Author Report Posted March 10, 2004 im not sure it just goes through high rpm before it moves Quote
svtkid78 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 You are sure your woodruff key is still there. You pulled your flywheel off and looked at the key on the end of your crank. Quote
chipdog Posted March 10, 2004 Author Report Posted March 10, 2004 yeah and its still there in place Quote
svtkid78 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 i think you are going to have to split the cases. that problem is pretty weird. Quote
bignasty1 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 could it be the clutch is goin out? when my clutch went out on my z i could move foward but not till high rpms. and then it wouldnt move at all. Quote
BdBanshee Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 If you have the quad in neutral the flywheel/crank will not turn. If you sheared the key the quad most likely wouldn't even start. Quote
boonman Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Ron has it correct. The flywheel is connected to the crank. The crank will not turn anything on the output shaft unless it is in gear. it sounds to me like the clutch is slipping to all hell. Judging by your explanation, it sounds as if this is the case. You mash the throttle, and it revs to the moon, and doesn't go anywhere.... BUT, you also said it was bogging and what not. This could be a fouled plug, I would start there. And then clean the carbs. You could also have a look see at the reeds. Does it backfire at all? Quote
