Dune Ratt Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 This is more of a question about things to haul the Shee in. I am in the market for new tire for my truck. I run 315X85R15 Gateway Buckshots (35X14.5R15 ) right now. Great tires! problem is that the Gateways are not available any more acording to the local shops around here. I would like another set but am having a hard time finding them. If anyone has a web page or knows where I can get my hands on these tires please let me know. These are not the Maxis buckshots (two totaly different tires.) Also what are youguys running? any pros? any cons? Quote
evil Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 im running bfg projects on one truck, mud terrains on the other and ill be getting procomp muds for my 150 tomarrow. projects are very expensive and they never see pavement, only from the trailer to the garage, but kick ass off road. the bfg muds held up for about 4 years on the ranger, on road and off and held up extreamly well. the procomps are a cheaper version of the bfg's but i hear there a little softer then bfg, so well see how they do on a fullsize truck. i know these guys might not have buckshots but they might have something that will work for cheaper then most places www.offroadsuperstores.com also try www.treaddepot.com i want to say i seen a set of those at someplace like sams club or cosco but im not certain where it was. . Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 get yourself some TSL Radials.....You'll never get stuck.....My buddy goes everywhere in 2 wheel drive in his 94 full size blazer......he's only had to put it in 4 wheel in a few deep holes around here. Plus they're quiet on the road and handle pretty good, only time you can hear them at all is around corners when they're aired down a little....that things in the shop more than its on the road though.....full aftermarket warranty....they keep asking him to renew it. It's got 130 grand on it....been through 7 or 8 POS rears, 2 tranny's, a swingset's worth of antisway bars and the list goes on and on.....but he gets it repaired for a 25 dollar deductible so.....needless to say its not his daily driver. boonman Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 315/85R15 is a 36-12.5 tire. Not a 14.5 width. I would say it's probably closer to a 35" tire than anything. Now, you need to decide what you want to do with the truck. DO you do alot of off-roading? Mud? sand, desert, drier trail running? Or mostly pavement? If you want a mud tire, look no further than a Swamper. Unparalleled in the sloppiness. Wins hands down. Every time. I would recommend either an SSR radial tire, or like mentioned before, a TSL radial. You will get good mileage out of them without a doubt. Now, On my S-10 blazers, (both of them) I run SX swampers. They aren't quite a radial, but they aren't a bias either. Like a half breed of both. They have ben wearing like Iron. One set has about 30K on them(30-11.5-15). And the other set has about 40K(32-11.5-15). Still going strong. if you want a compareable tire to your Buckshots, get a Wild Country RVT tire. Widely available, and they are awesome on the pavement, superb wear, and give traction compareable, if not better than your old Buckshots. Your at the crossroads here. IMHO, any tire measure in a metric fashion isn't worth a piss in the mud. But, here in NY, we have sloppy messes of trails. And deep holes. I don't know what you drive on. Or what your looking for. These may help you out though. Quote
