ZigZag Man Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 What would be the best replacement reeds for the stock reed cages (fully stock 87) I am debating between boysen super stock carbon fiber or fmf c.f. or any other suggestions. Also is there any thing to watch for when changing them? Quote
. Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Just a thoughtful note, the carbon fibers arent going to flex as much and if one does happen to break its gonna sit in your engine longer before it burns up and goes out the exhaust. I got the boyeson dual stage reeds and love the throttle response I got out of them. Completely changed my quad Quote
J-Madd Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 I just put FMF Rad Valves in with the reeds that came on the (Power Series Carbon Fiber....or something like that) I could tell virtually no difference in performance in my stock '99. I also bought the dual stage reeds but forgot to order two sets......so I haven't put them in yet. Quote
fixitrod Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 I agree.. carbon fiber reeds are not all they are cracked up to be. Quote
