I want to buy my older son a quad this summer, but I'm sort of stuck on what kind.He just turned 12 he's 5'4' and 135lbs.I have been thinking a Blaster or a Polaris Trailblazer 250 because its auto and he wouldn't have to shift. He has never rode before, and he acts nuts on a go-cart so I want something not to fast.A lot of people say to get a 80cc or 90cc to learn on and they say that will last him till he's 14.I think they seem small for him.Any help would be great.

Get him a blaster, or a 300ex. I think he would get bored with a trailblazer, but thats just my opinion. A 300ex is a good first quad. So is a blaster, and u can mod the blaster as he gets better, and bigger.

My buddies son is 8 and is already growing out of 90cc. He rides his dad's 400 without much problem (under close supervision) although he does have to stand while riding it. He cant be much over 90lbs either...

If you want an auto, I would recommend the Honda 250EX. The Polaris Trailblazer is way too heavy, and in my experience won't hardly pull itself up a dune. The Blaster or 300EX would both make a good quad if you go with a clutch.

My son's have a LT80 now, and will move up to a Blaster when they are big enough, and have enough experience.

i say the blaster becouse as he gets more experenced and wants more power theres plenty of mods you can get done

the blaster won't be to much for him there easy to ride and handle alot easyer to handle then the trail blazer becouse its alot lighter he can learn to shift and use the clutch in an hour he will love it

i miss my blaster........ :(

Depends on whether you want a 4stroke or 2stroke,....4choke I'd go with the 300ex, or the 2stroke blaster--would be good if he's planning on graduating to a banshee to get familiar with the 2stroke world...lucky 'lil shit. :P

i am also gonna have to say go with a blaster cuz it should be strong enough to amuze him for a while but he will then want to start modding it as he gets older and that makes a nice lil platform for him to start with b4 movin onto a shee.

Yup, I would say Blaster as well. I just gave my oldest son my Banshee and bought another Banshee for myself. His Blaster is up for sale if interested. Its a 2001, black and white, Toomey pipe, v-force reed and oil injector block off kit. Great little quad. B)

Thanks for all the posts guys. You all had the same idea I was thinking (Blaster).I would rather him have a two stroke, because there easier to work on,and I want him to learn how to fix it as it needs work. Thanks again for the help.
