Looking for a fully functional clean unmolested engine. Want to use it to study/learn with and use sometime in the future. Would like to compare OEM parts to aftermarket and understand the differences. Paypal ready.

Why not by part by part, and assemble it? Best way to learn imo.

Good point, but I feel like if I buy a whole assembly, I'll have all my eggs in one basket. Vs trying to figure what I'm missing piece by piece, which will cost more time and money.

Yea you can run yourself ragged piecing one together. I did that on a build. It sucked. Looking a random bins of parts on ebay to see if the part I needed was in there. Bolts, dowels, random hardware that you forget about until its not there. I finally just bought a parts bike.

I should've been more specific. I'm meaning bottom end with repairs needed. Cylinders, and so on. Then you're learning, and accomplishing shit.

What is an average price range for a bone stock engine. I'm thinking 1,000 to 1,300?? That's what I've seen on ebay anyways. Anything beyond that to much?

I would pay 800 I'd it needed nothing, maybe.

Good luck finding a complete engine for $800 anymore. Usually see them for $900 plus shipping when complete and working. Your best bet is to buy a complete bottom end. The top end, cylinders, pistons and head have almost nothing to really learn as far as assembly goes.

Happen to have a bottom end? I would go that route too.
