Stevenhaines02 Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 When installing new main crank bearings where should they be seated? I made the assumption that they needed to be all the way against the crank. Well countless hours reading and messing around my engines assembled and sealed up. After torqueing bolts and nuts in sequence the transmission spins freely, but my crank is just plain screwed... Spins hard and binds. The crank appears to be off center also. Its really close to the case on the stator side and a lil gap on the clutch side. Clutch side bearing is a TZ bearing and stator side is a clipped max load with clip removed. Stator side of my case isnt machined for a clip. Both bearings are installed against the crank. The tz bearing inner race oriented so the bearing can come off the crank leaving the inner race against the web. Is the tz bearing installed correctly? Quote
sleeper06 Posted June 12, 2015 Report Posted June 12, 2015 You will see variations in side to side in press together cranks no two cranks are pressed the same , from what it sounds you put the bearings on correctly . Make sure when spinning the crank the flywheel is off it will feel notchy from the magnets. I have also had problems using the full clip on some cases with the tz bearing. I use two stock clips instead . If the crank started to separate it can bind . I have also seen welded cranks where welding meg was putting pressure on the outer bearing race causing a bind Quote
Stevenhaines02 Posted June 12, 2015 Author Report Posted June 12, 2015 I accidentally made a double post... The other has all the pics and some input from other members.... If a mod can delete this duplicate post id appreciate it. Sorry about the double guys Quote
