need some help converting to dc please

I have done plenty of searching, but cant find the exact info i need.  Thank you to all those who have posted helpful dc conversion threads.

 

First off, I am trying to do a dc conversion to charge a battery and power a led light bar. From my research I know how to float the ground and wire up an aftermarket regulator/rectifier.

 

Instead of buying a new regulator/rectifier, I would like to attempt to use one from a 400ex I already have on hand (im assuming this is possible).  This is where I cannot seem to find any information on which wires go to what. Take a look at the photo and wiring diagram i posted below and maybe someone can help me out.  Im assuming the yellow/pink goes to the stator and the red/black are dc output?? No clue what the green would be for. I could be totally wrong as well so if someone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

pink and yellow go to the stator.  green is just the timing trigger.  you don't need it.  black ground and red power dc.
