Trans locks up when rolling.

Picked a bike up with 1-5 n down over ride. Not sure who cut it. Ive have had it apart looking over stuff a few times . Anyway. When you try to roll it backward. Like off your trailer it'll randomly lock up. Pull it forward and itll roll back a bit. Then lock up again. Sometimes it'll roll fine. Sometimes it won't roll 2ft. I'm baffled. Good forks, eccentric screw. Shifts and works great. But is a pain in the ass. Gets old fighting rolling it off the trailer.... Any advise?

Thinner oil? I mean the dogs shouldnt be contacting. Idk maybe a actual Trans guy will chime in.

Think that'd affect it for this? I'm at a loss. Trans works great other wise

I'm trying to run it through my head. Only thing else I can think of is if the drum is letting the fork sit far enough over the gear is getting pulled in. Like one of the trenches wasn't machined, or welded right. Springs in the right place?

I don't know enough about the workings of the override drums and stuff. But I have had the drum out looking for unusual wear or anything that may shed some light on it. This trans is one without the springs betwen the forks. Been thinking of adding them to see if it has any affect

i bet it needs them to keep the gears from getting into each other unless the fork shoves them over. again i don't know enough about them either to give a def answer. all 3 of mine had springs.

Had a similar issue too. Springs solved the problem.

Mine did the same thing when my chain was too loose.. The chain was binding on the back side of the chain guide mounted on the swing arm.. Probably not what you have going on but worth a peek!!

Do you have springs on the shift fork shafts , the drums are relief cut to allow you to override the gear your in and bang into the next, without spring tensions on the sliders it will bind

Not all over rides require springs though do they?
