Jetting question- FMF Gnarly's

Going through my carbs since I did not know prior history. Did a total disassembly with removal of all jets and gallon cleaner submersion one carb at a time. Blew out all passages and reassembling them now. Quad is a stock '06 with only mods being FMF Gnarly's/ Turbine Core 2's and the 2-1 Y boot/  Uni filter with outerwear. Stock reeds too. Prior owner had 340 mains in it which I'm led to believe aren't genuine Mikuni as I do not see the symbol and the numbers on this jet are not solid but dotted. Has anyone seen that before? Pilots were 30's with unknown needles (look to be stainless?) with clip in 3rd position. It ran very rich. I've done lots of reading in the search archives here: most with a similar set up wound up with 290-310 on the mains, 27.5 or 30 on the pilots, and stock needles at 3rd/ middle clip. I'm planning to try 310 mains and new OEM needles at 3rd clip. My question is on the pilots- should I try the 27.5s or use the 30s as FMF recommends? What difference would I see there? Thanks for the help!

Forgot to add that elevation is 380 ft.

I know for a fact youre right on with the pilot. Fmfs like a 30 pilot, and ive also heard the 27.5 does work.

Try 30s with the screws all the way in.

Work the screws out to clear it up. If by 3 turns the bottom still dosent clear, go to 27.5.

Bring the screws all the way in and work them out again.

 

A long process but a good way to learn how your jetting works and the effects every change has.

Yeah i agree. try the 30 first and work down. Ive always found it easier to work down

Your pilots should be fine with those pipes. As a general rule FMF pipes tend to like a bigger pilot than most other pipes. Your main is way to big you should be pretty damn close dropping down to a 310

I run 30/300, 3rd clip with same pipes at 800 ft asl. It's near perfect, a hair rich in the hotter months but hasn't fouled a plug. Also as already mentioned FMF recommends a 30 pilot on their site.
