i have this 87 banshee and i know i have j-arms and eventually i want to get a new frame to run a-arms but what am i able to swap but still use this frame? can i use the 4/115 hubs off the newer banshees, can i swap out the rear chain spider to to use the newer style one? can i swap out the brake rotor also? just wondering what all parts are interchangeable?

All that should interchange. Might be better off swapping to a new style swinger and axle carrier too. Or going to an aftermarket roundhouse.

i didint know that theres a new style swinger and carrier, hmm theres one on cl ive been looking at, whats different about the new one? id get a roundhouse but thats alot of $$$$ so the splines on these old axles are the same as the newer ones?

I think axle is the same. Newer carrier has a tube all the way through top and bottom and uses 2 long bolts instead of the 4 shorter bolts like you prob have.

Besides the obvious J arm differences, the only mechanical differences in parts are the swingarm, carrier, sprocket hub(which must all stay together) and the front brake calipers, hoses, rotors, front hubs, and spindles(which also must stay together). By stay together, I mean that you can't interchange them with later style parts. So, in other words, you can swap all your 87 parts(except J arms) to an A arm frame and everything will fit. Just don't try mixing the above mentioned parts with later parts. Also worth mentioning, the '90 was a J arm bike with late style front brakes, spindles, etc. There are several electrical differences over the years, but that's a different issue.
