Wallrat Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 I'm looking at gauges to install on my shee but I need to know what the max temp should be. I found a sweet solar digital gauge at my work but it only goes up to 158*. Will this be enough or does the banshee normally run hotter than that? Quote
raxen Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 It is dependant on where you place the probe. Are you measuring exhaust, coolant, or head tmeperature? If you can tell me that, I will try to get out and run mine for awhile today, then use the nifty IR temp gun on it. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 9, 2003 Author Report Posted November 9, 2003 Well ideally I'd want cylinder head temp since this would be the best place to indicate if there's a problem. If my memory serves me, the hose from the heads to the radiator is the one that enters the top right corner of the radiator. That would be the one that I'd splice the thermo into. Quote
JKJK Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 on a 80deg.day lugin through the woods in 2nd 180 that's about max.normaly around a high 150+depending on the type of rideing.i run a 70/30 mix of distiled water+anti freze with some water weter.i have the poor mans meet therm.teed off the small line from the head. triple B Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 i run a gauge from a company called warp drive the setup cost 35.00 from them the gauge gos up to 240 as for operating temps depending on your mods it should run between 160-220 on 70-80 degree day even on a 40 degree day mine runs between 140-200 hope this helps Quote
Nightrider Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I have a autometer automotive style mechanical gauge in a mounting cup.Its teed in right near the outlet of the head.On the hottest days it gets up around 190 but its normally anywhere between 140-160. Remember to fill the gap around your radiator cover so air cannot go around the radiator.I used some square block foam.I think it was 1 inch. The foam will not allow the air to escape around the sides and top of the radiator. This mod is easily worth 20% in cooling increase Quote
Klotz Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 i have a lot of mods and have a gauge from canadian tire....it goes into the rad fluid tube that comes ouuta the heads....i run 160-170......and now that its colder im running 140 Quote
