Thinking of building a motor

I have the urge to build a badass motor from the ground up, I wanna keep using the one I have so I can still ride. I wanna buy all the parts I need from HQ members,

 

Basically start off with the cases clean them up and figure out what I wanna do with it.

 

What do you guys think ? Which direction should I go. I'm in no rush so I can definitely take my time, also I would like to stay on pump gas but IF I have to buy VP race fuel I suppose I can

with out a budget or expectations out of the motor its hard to give you advise..

 

some people would think 60hp is badass while the next will say 130hp is badass

 

so we would need more info

Well I can spend money over time, I would say I want to spend around $2000 - $3500 over time just on the motor.

 

As for expectations I don't know, you tell me. The faster the better I suppose

Well your being very vague. 2-3k can go in a few purchases on a bigger motor. I think I have about 2k into my stock cylinder 4 mil. That paid for crank port all hardware domes assembly install tune and whatever else is involved with that

For 2-3500.00 you're looking at a good 4mm CP cylinder engine. Serval or cub. That's assuming you are using all good quality parts.

800 cylinder + possible 350 for porting

450-500 crank with bearings

200 for case

400-600 modded trans with new bearings

300-400 for clutch setup

350 for pistons n gaskets. plugs n extenders 

280-300 for cool head and custom domes

500-700 for pipes.

350 for carbs.

 

500 for just in case.

Should have no prob staying around 3500 for a 4cub or serval. Do it right talk to a good builder and buy from them. They will usually give you a little deal on stuff if you buy enough. Imo

Yes. That'll get you what you want with out settling when you start coming up to your max. So if you want this for 600 but your 1k away from you budget and your only half way done, you won't settle for the 300 one that's half as good. So 5 is a good budget with a lot of cushion room.

I think you could build a good motor for like 2500-3000, look for deals don't buy new, buy most parts in good used condition.

Most sell 421 cub kits complete with crank and porting for like 1700-1900$ I will sell you a good set of cases with tranny for cheap, good base to start with.
