TroyBrock Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 I recently installed a trail tech vapor on my banshee. While I was installing the temperature gauge I noticed one of those billet cooler things already in my line, so I decided to remove this and place the gauge in it's place. I was wondering whether it was reading the temperature after being cooled by the radiator or before, it is on the line that runs from the bottom of the radiator to the inlet for the coolant pump. WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Wrong spot. The hot water is coming OUT at the head. The cool water is going INTO the pump. Hot water rises and cold water sinks. Coolant is pushed up thru the motor by the pump. The motor is hotter as the water passes upward so the water is always increasing in temp till it leaves the head. Then it is pushed up to the top fitting of the radiator. There the hot water enters the radiator and begins cooling. As it cools it sinks. The process starts again as the cooler fluid is pulled out of the radiator and goes to the pump beginning another journey up thru the hot motor. So temp gauges and inline coolers go in the hose that comes from the head. Quote
