Bought a '96 banshee from a friend and replaced the rear brakes with new pads.. Now no what I try I cannot get the pads spread enough to fit over the caliper... I have tried putting a c-clamp on the piston to completely compress it and still cannot get it over the caliper.. Is there an adjustment on the parking brake to allow the pads to spread farther?? not sure what my problem is....

Thanks..

I think you have to loosen the parking brake (locknut and bolt) and then compress the pads. I haven't done it in a while.... Then once on and brakes pumped back up, tighten the Pbrake bolt and then the locknut. They never stay set to work for very long....

Is there a reason that you still have your parking brake?... I know it's not your issue right now, but still.

Have u tried taking the parking brake bracket completely off the caliper and adjusting it to the trash can?

Haha I was gonna mention that too, but mine's still on and I got a blockoff sitting on the bench.

Ive never seen one actually work :shrugani:

Mine worked when I adjusted it, but not when I actually was gonna use it ...

Take the brake reservoir cap off. It'll allow the fluid to move back into the bottle.

If u do that be ready with smthn to catch it so it don't eat all the paint off everything.
