andres1 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Hey i was wondering if i can powder coat my coolhead without any issues. Thanks Quote
special06shee Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I wouldnt do it!! One of the benifets of the head would be cooling.. Id have to say the the poweder coat might trap the heat!! This is jmo Quote
sheerider11 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I would. The heat isn't dissipated thorough the head. Its not an area of heat transfer like the radiator. Now if it was a blaster with a air cooled motor then I'd look into it a lot more. But these bikes I wouldn't be concerned. Quote
Paulie B Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Do it. It won't affect it at all. I recommend lapping it afterwards just incase it somehow warps from the heat. I did mine and lapped it afterwards but I knew it was warped before I started. Quote
andres1 Posted October 25, 2012 Author Report Posted October 25, 2012 I got it used off ebay, how do u know if is warp Quote

Dicklez Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I dont think your gonna have a problem after you powder coat it. Just make sure you clean all the powdercoat off the machined surfaces. Get some 400 grit sand paper and if you have acess to a granite block. say it down and spray it with some wd40. then run the the head to clean it up nice. I think if its warped its gonna be so little that when you bolt it down, its gonna straighten out. Just check for leaks but we have never had a problem with PC'd heads. Quote
