rednose-pit Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 Hey all... Been out of the banshee scene for quite some time, well, till I brought a gem home in a box......Jugs were already pulled off the motor and the typical right side rod is loose as a goose on the crank.... My question: What are your recomendations for an overhaul? I dont neccecarily need a stroker motor or big bore.... budget is definately low.... Can these cranks be fixed? I've seen some rod kits for sale online... I have plenty of tools and 20 years experience in workin on junk so difficulty is no issue... Cost effectiveness is key... What do you recomend as far as top end kits and/or complete rebuild kits? definately lookin to build a banshee on a budget.... It came with a set of gnarleys and a boost bottle.... other than that Its definately a "ground upper" Chime in, HQ!!! I'm ready to put this ole girl back together! Quote
Infamous039 Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 I would buy a new hot rods or vitos crank and weisco piston and ring kit. Also have the tranny checked out while you got the cases open. Don't cheap out with your motor cause it will cost you more in the end. Quote
dave5.0 Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 If you're looking for cost effective buy a used stock crank, get it checked out and truer/welded. Guy I know just bought a good one for $70 shipped. Another $60 coulda had it tried and welded. It can be done pretty cheap if ya look around for the deals. Quote
