You will receive a certificate of origin when you buy the bike, then when your lein is paid off you will receive a title from the dmv. If you do not have the title for it, you are not the legal owner. The only thing a bill of sale does is prove you paid for it. Which if you dont have the title for it, you are possibly in possion of a stolen bike. At least thats how the dmv and police would look at it. Post up the vin number so potential buyers can run the vin and make sure it comes back clear. If you have a lien because of a loan on the vehicle they might title it for collateral purposes for the bank.
