I have a 2000 Banshee that is mostly OEM, I took apart the top end and measured it, it is 64.50. I brought it to a local shop to check out, he recommended I just buy a new 64.50 top end kit and he would hone it. Top end kits are pretty expensive and I want to do the rebuild right, should I take his advice or should should I go up a size and get it bored to match the new pistons. If so, which size would you have it bored to 64.75 or 65.00?

if you trust the guy and he says it needs that size then go with that. if you dont trust him take it somewhere else...

There is 6 measurements you have to take. If your to far over, out of round, tapered or any gouge you should bore it. Why do you think you need a top end? And how reputable is thus local shop?

The quad was beat and not maintained at all, I have completely rebuilt it and I wanted to start with a new top end, he is reputable and really the only local place for me to get it bored and honed. I would just prefer to have a fresh bore rather than just honing it and wanted some advice on what size I should go to.

If it truly just needs a hone job, then why do you need to buy pistons? Are they broke or cracked? If it is just being honed and your pistons are OK, I would just buy some rings and the required gaskets and put it back together.
