erickson483 Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 Clymer says 2.6 qts is the coolant capacity, but I've only managed to get like 1.8 into the radiator. I've ran it a few times at idle to see if would go down but the radiator is still full. I checked the impeller when I reassembled everything and I'm 100% sure there was no coolant in it already. What do you think? Quote
DallasGDub Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 When you say it had no coolant in it, are you counting the coolant that sits in the head, and cylinders also? Quote
erickson483 Posted May 23, 2012 Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 Yes zero coolant. I just finished a full motor rebuild so everything was empty Quote
erickson483 Posted May 23, 2012 Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 Overflow is around .3, that still leaves me about a half quart short still. I'll check the cylinder plugs for coolant Quote
erickson483 Posted May 23, 2012 Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 Both cylinders have coolant..... Quote
mk2dubbin Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 mine took less than 2 quarts on a fresh rebuild and even splashed some in the overflow bottle. same on a friends fresh rebuild last weekend. several rides later i still haven't been able to add any. i think the spec is wrong. Quote
Phelps Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 start it with the cap off. it's a open system (no thermostat) it will drop once it runs a second and then top it off. Quote
