2strokes4u Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Hello banshee lovers. I am new to BHQ and fairly new to working on banshees, but im learning alot from reading you guys posts. I started out riding banshees when i was 12 until i went off to school and I have recently purchased a 2000 banshee 7mil, big bore sleeves, 38PWK, cpi big bore in frames, 160/165 compression...etc. My question is, what jets should i use for the 38pwk. I am currently using the standard for this size which are 172 mains and 58 pilots. I am currently setting it up for drag racing 1/8th mile asphalt. The problem im having is that it will not idle with the chokes up. it runs for about 20-30 seconds and cuts off. I take choke off and it will run after I rev it for a good two to three times. I was thinking that I was too rich on pilot being that the choke allows more fuel to enter when it is up. Can someone please get me in the ball park of which jets to start with so i can buy a couple sizes near that size. Are the 38PWK carbs too big? I am in Raymore Mo...about 900-1000 ft above sea level. Things i have done: New carb kit and main/pilot jets(same size that were in there) sync carbs with sync tool from jeff at FAST drained fuel and put 93 fuel and HP2 premix 40:1 Quote

Need smaller pilots. I tested it out and i believe my mains are to small now cause it was hit and miss in the power band when I was at full throttle. I will try to get more jets and test them out. I might just take to FAST to do a leak down test to make sure its not leaking cause i know that can mess up jetting. I performed the test myself for the first time and didnt find any leaks around the outside. sprayed all around and nothing. but the psi was falling faster than 1 psi per minute. Could there be a seal leaking inside that I cant detect with soapy water? Quote
