my first banshee and its first rebuild

Recommended Posts

Hi there guys, I just wanted to share with ya my first banshee rebuild. I bought a banshee from a local and ended up blowing my motor up 3 hours into riding at Glamis. It was in rough shape compared to all of yours especially when i tore it down to the bare frame, but hind sight is 20 20. well this is a crappy but only picture i can find of it looking the way i bought it together. http://s1055.photobucket.com/albums/s505/badoneton/?action=view&current=FH000020.jpg

So i bought a bunch of parts. The frame was bent and the swing arm was twisted so I had a lot of help from a couple of members on here with repairing the frame and getting and making a stock swing arm 3" longer and stronger. Thanks ban99 and rooster02.http://s1055.photobucket.com/albums/s505/badoneton/?action=view&current=DSCN0301.jpghttp://s1055.photobucket.com/albums/s505/badoneton/?action=view&current=DSCN0308.jpg

I was looking for a push bar style bumper like what was on the general lee but couldn't find any that I liked. Well I told ban99 what I was looking for and in a couple of days I got a call saying my bumper was done. I couldn't believe how professional it looks. a6935820-cc66-a39c.jpga6935820-cc78-6f32.jpga6935820-cca9-980a.jpga6935820-ccbb-c227.jpg

I'm very happy with that bumper. As for the plastic I'm just waiting on a new radiator cover. I'll post more pictures later today. I can't wait to start tearing into the engine.

Well I just got my new radiator cover so now my plastics are done. Now I just need to have a custom seat cover made for it. Here in a couple of weeks I'll start on the engine. Nothing big. Stock bore and stroke, new crank, power reeds new clutch, modded shift star. I still need to find a good set of toomey t-5 for it. Man it's fun building these from the frame up!!!47d4f7c2-dc81-8150.jpga6935810-dc96-cd23.jpg47d4f7c2-dca6-7a13.jpg

bad one ton,

if you have not bought a crank yet i would highly suggest getting a 4 mil crank thats true and welded. even if you dont port the cylinders thats fine cuz when the time comes that you want to get more out of the engine you got the crank so your good. trust me it will def be worth it

Well I just got done putting the motor together and with the help of my friends and family successfully got it into the frame without scratching the powder coating!!! I still need to heat cycle it but good to go for Walden and then in November GLAMIS!!4ba6c863-547c-c684.jpg4ba6c863-5492-d5f1.jpg4ba6c863-54a5-e38f.jpg4ba6c863-54b4-6fd0.jpg4ba6c863-54c0-7175.jpg
