Uf21 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) Hi, My cousin has a banshee and he flipped it last weekend and it still ran fine all day. Brought it home and hasn't tried to start it till today and when he tried today it wouldn't start. He changed the spark plugs. Tried roll starting with clutch and removed the tors brain (little white clip to the left side of frame under fuel tank. Is that the right wire?) and it still wouldn't start. EDIT: one other thing today he accidentally hit the black box under the seat between the air box and rear light. The box cracked. What does that box do? What could be the problem? SAVAGE420 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 That is the CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) AKA the "brain". It looks to be banged up pretty good. Im going to say its fuct. Looks like he will need a new one for sure. Don't buy one from Yamaha (expensive). Someone on here will have a good used one for a good price for you. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 id agree with Savage.....it looks like its been through hell considering the bike is still fairly new. If you have another banshee you can try and swap out the CDI real quick to ensure that the CDI is the problem. and definitely find a CDI somewhere else other than the dealerships......they'll ass rape you everytime for things....
