maskmanLS6 Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 I just put a fresh stock stroke engine together and am curiouIs as to how much power is to be gained with bigger carbs. The cylinders are ported just shy of a drag port and a bit over a trail port. Im gonna run a stock head that will be worked by Mull eng. with +4 or +5 timing and a pump and race fuel mix. Im using fmf gold series with stock carbs jetted with 30 pilots and 340 mains along with a smaller set of needles set in the middle clip. The engine runs strong and feels like its running as well as possible but i just have a feeling that there might be power to gain with bigger carbs. I think the port work will flow even more than its getting now. Quote
Coupelx Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 theres quite a bit of difference between what most consider a trail port and most consider a drag port. Quote

maskmanLS6 Posted April 27, 2012 Author Report Posted April 27, 2012 theres quite a bit of difference between what most consider a trail port and most consider a drag port. When i sent my cylinders to advanced machine I told him what kind of riding i do and he said i needed something between his drag port and trail port. Im not sure how his drag port compares to anyone elses but the work was nice and clean with even lines and amounts of material removed. I just cant help but think i need bigger carbs, its one of those things that will bug me until i try it. Quote
06specialedition Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 What kind of riding do you do? Larger carbs you will gain some top end, but lose low if you go too big. Quote

I ride dunes and trail with a drag race here and there. I like a little of all kinds. I think bigger carbs will help some but its one of those things that make me think will it be worth the $ to do it. Quote
