kthurm Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Let's hear some pros and cons of polishing parts or getting parts chromed Quote
SandmanPNW Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 chrome will last longer and is easier to clean/ maintain. Quote
DallasGDub Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 Some parts change in size when chromed. So may not fit right when put together. Chrome cost A LOT more than polishing. Quote
kthurm Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 I'm thinking like kicker, shifter, brake pedal, wondering if they would wear and dull if chromed. Debating to but billet stuff or pay to get stock stuff chromed or polished and either way gonna be around the same give or take 20 or so Quote
toytech Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 polished, nothing looks sweeter than polished aluminum !!!!!!! Quote
Fastassbanshee96 Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Its a lot cheaper to do polish. Jeff does real good work and is pretty cheap. Once it's done it's can be a bitch to keep up with but can always bring it back to looking like new no matter what you do to it. Quote
jlevasseur Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I prefer chrome over polish. polish doesn't hold up to one long weekend here in Oregon. Chrome pricing has come down a lot in the last couple years. I have had everything chromed from side cases to thumb throttle to a arms and they lasted over 5 years before starting to chip. Easier to maintain and your bike looks good all weekend not just for the first day. Only thing I would say is just dry it off after washing... JMO.. good luck! Quote
decon Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 I'm definately looking into chroming a few of my billet parts, polishing is such a hassle. All that work to get your bike looking shiney for a weekend at the dunes, come back home and everything is dull. I would say either chrome it or powdercoat it... Quote
Paulie B Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 Things like the kicker are steel. It will take forever to polish and rust down the road. Quote
