hey guys im pretty sure this has been gone over and over before but cant seem to find it. :shootself: I'm currenty running a set of k&n 6" pods with outerwears. This is the first time i ever ran a bike without an airbox and it is a little scarey for me because of my riding enviroment. I ride in north eastern pa in the coal region. Alot of dusty, griddy coal dirt everywhere! My questions is about protection and not so much about performance. I,m looking for the best protecting filter against the griddy coal silt that could whip out a motor if ingested. So what is the better filter to keep all of the fine junk out?? K&n or uni?? i will be running outerwears on either application. i know an airbox would help but i have a stouty little 4mil and need to let her breath. :D thanks guys!

K&N with Outerwears has stood up to my dune riding, as well as dirt. I pulled the air box off years ago and I'm never going back.

If you want to track how well you filter system works, put a finger smear of white lithium grease on the inside of your filter pod, or mouth of your carbs. When you go to do maintenance on your filters, inspect the grease. If it's full of crap you know you have an issue. If it's still clean you know it's doing the job.
