i use anything laying around. bar oil, 2 stroke oil, veggy oil (once. i was desperate lol), engine oil, wd-40, pb blaster.... to name a few. lube is lube, BUT i will not say the chain will last as long.

oring chain really doesnt need oiled.

i never do anything more to mine other than wd40 after i wash it to get the water off and chain wax when i store it while im on the road all summer. ive had it for 2 years and its still lookin good. i might replace it just to say i did but otherwise :shrugani:

Interesting fact, We do not oil any of the non oring chains on our combines. This increases the life 10x over keeping them oiled because of the dirt the oil attracts.

i use a non oring chain

i would get something for atv chains that doesnt stay sticky. chainwax is nice but it builds up between the links and needs cleaned out.

Ive been using Napa brand chain lube that foams up and it doesn't stick to dirt, but our Napa just closed down in my area. so I was looking for a easier to find lube.
