Sandy Banshee :(

Hey guys. Today I was riding in the sandhills near a lake after some serious rain fall on my lowered banshee with K/N air filters with no outerware (smart right?) and the filters collapsed and sucked in a bunch of water. luckily there wasn't much sand in the intake and the cylinder/pistons was fine. I cleaned up the carbs and reeds and its back together but I dont know what to do with the air filters. Is it safe to soak these puppies in some boiling water? I figure it should bring the sand out and hopefully expand them to there previous shape.... picture attached

if there was sand in the intakes, then theres no possible way the pistons are fine... theyll be a dull grey color. rings, bearings, pistons and cylinder walls all would be affected if sand/dirt makes it through the filters.
