knelson
sounds like you could use a thread file in the old toolbox.
THE358BANSH
ok thx 'Picklez&Beetz', thx for the help!! Dont bother with a die, it can do more damage than good. Pick up a thread file for Imperial and Metric and you will never be let down... http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-tools/thread-file/thread-file.jpg http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-tools/thread-file/metric-thread-file.jpg http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-tools/thread-file/correct-fit-thread-file.jpg

126happy
ok now i see what file yall r talking about. yeah i have to agree i think the thread file would be better then the die. thx for the tip!!!!
knelson
The problem with using taps and dies to fix threads is that it usually undercuts/removes the threads and makes the tolerances sloppy. Try a thread restore kit that straightens the threads and you will be much happier. Edited December 12, 2011 by knelson
camatv
the end of the shaft is probably mushroomed. did you use the proper puller when you took the flywheel off?> or a 3 jaw backwoods chevy harmonic dampner puller?? if you used one of those i'm pretty sure you also damaged the flywheel as well. might be time for a new crank end and a new flywheel. good luck!
