so, i let my buddy ride my fourwheeler one day, and the countershaft sprocket pops off along with the spacer the goes into the seal of the sprocket. i notcie it is leaking tranny fluid. i take it home and then i notice the seal had a tinyyy hole in it. got a new seal, put it in. let it sit for a few days, come back to find more tranny fluid under the neutral switch... i switch out the neutral switch with an old one i had laying around. come back next day and its still leaking.. i cant find any cracks or anything near where the fluid is! what could it be? a tiny crack that is not noticable? any help would be great, thanks jon

Are both shift fork rod plugs in the case on the sprocket side? Did you put a NEW o-ring on the neutral switch cover? Did you split the cases and install the new seal correctly, or did you just pound it into the cases without splitting them, like a champ?

Saw this and got to thinking, Does the countershaft seal have a rib like the crank seals? Just looked at a set of cases. Nope, no groove in the cases. So, not a problem to tap in a new seal without splitting the cases. Someone on here mentioned to sprinkle flour or baby powder or something like that on the area to find out exactly where the oil is, and where it's not. Also, it's very common for the shift shaft seal to leak. Cheap and easy to replace.

Do it right and split the cases to replace that seal, dont pound it in. Did you check the oring on the neutral switch cover?

 

 

well i took like a big socket and put it on it to poud it int there ven. i know its not the seal, cause no fluid around it. it could be the neutral switch o ring. imma have to thread a screw out cause i stripped it trying to get the neutral switch out haha. so i can use flour to see where its leaking?

There is no reason to split the cases to replace the out put shaft seal. You are doing it right by driving it in. Take some brake clean or some carb clean and spray the area off really well then blow it off with a air hose then let it sit for a few hours and look and see where the oil is really coming from then we can tell you how to fix it but you did replace the seal the right way.

the infamous neutral switch cover. I had that issues for months, finally replaced the entire thing with a nice billet one and problem went away.

just bought a billet one! thanks bro ill see if that helps lol
