Huey73
X2 on the prep work. I used tremclad and it didn't come off until I rolled mine 2 years later. Make sure there is no dust or anything else floating through the air when you paint and afterwards.

rinaldobailey
I just did my plastics i used 400 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1500 lightyl then i used 800 went back over lightly just to scratch it up a bit so the paint sticks better, if you can get them lightly sandblasted it helps the paint stick . USE adhesion promoter . I used automotive base/clear and flex agent, the flex agent is used on plastic parts (|bumpers) the bottle will say to use so much i used 20%-30% more use it in the clear too. I rolled my bike last year the front plastics broke the paint didnt chip around the brakes the back got scuffed but no chips anywhere.
