zx6r banshee Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Hey looking for some pointers...I was in the process of changing my carrier bearings when to my dismay, I couldn't get the sprocket side hub off the axle. The disc side came right off but the other side I literally took a 22 oz framing hammer and beat the crap out of the back side of the hub while rotating the axle every few whacks for a good hour before I gave up. I noticed something odd after taking off the axle nut the end of the threads that sit in the hub before the splines looks like it has an offset nut impression on it...was wondering if it was some sort of lock but I don't see how it would possibly work.it actually looked like the previous owner took an extended socket to cover the threads and beat the axle thru the bearings that way or something..anyway I need the damn hub to come off so I can get back out riding. Any tips would be appreciated Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I used a 2 jaw puller. Driver on the axle and jaws on a healthy part of the hub. Use a little heat on the aluminum hub to expand it just a tad and it should come off. This is what I had to do when a hammer wouldn't cut it. Quote
