Scott Morris Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Hey all, just got my first banshee and found this forum, so far i think that i found the right place. First i am not new to quads, have an 06 yfz450 that is fairly well built, and a 86 honda 250r that is built a little but mostly stock and very reliable.. up till a week ago i had an 06 700 raptor, but wanting to get back to my 2 stroke roots i traded it for what was supposed to be a fairly well built 05 banshee.. well im not sure if it is as well built as the seller claimed and it this point not even sure if its an 05 as the frame has been replaced with a new one and i dont even have a vin number.. the engine serial number seams like it may be an 05 but having trouble finding out for sure (ser num 3gg-217704). it starts of the first kick and sounds really good.. have to fix a gas leak problem that appears to be the bowl gasket as it isnt coming out the overflow but apears to be at the gasket. anyway her is the short list of what its got...cool head dome 21cc, weisco pro lite .20 over piston piston, pro desing mega flow impeller, hotrod complete crankshaft, pro comp 2 over front suspension, 4" over chrome swing arm. Im sure that my raptor was worth more, but if the raptor broke there is no way i could dive in and re build it.. with a 2 stroke i can have the motor out and stripped out on my bench in under an hour so while i probably got screwed on the deal im ok with that lol. it does look good and has lots of shinny aluminum parts so that has to be a plus right! i will try and post up a pic so you can see what she looks like. and before anyone says it, the paddles are on backwards in the pictures the seller gave me lol Quote

gotta_goatsfast Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Looks good. What would worry me is not having a vin number. Is it stolen? Some states require the VIN for permits and registration (not sure if your state has any requirements). You have a great foundation with a hotrods crank (110mm or 115mm rod?) and forged pistons. Send out the cylinders to one of our site sponsors and they'll port it for your riding style and set up (and it'll be faster than your raptor, I promise). PS, I bet the banshee responded really well to the rear brake pedal with them sand tires on backwards. lol Quote
Scott Morris Posted October 1, 2011 Author Report Posted October 1, 2011 its red and black, according to the seller, the frame was damaged and thats why he got a new one, even gave me the recepit for the new frame. in oregon you dont have to register quads, just have to have an off road permit so im not too worried about that. the gas leak has me a little puzzeled as it doesnt appear to be coming out of the overflow. cant wait to get it on to the sand and see how she does.. pretty sure its already faster than my raptor, i think my yfz450 will probably take it, but my girlfriend has kinda taken that one over so i think i have a pretty good platform with lots of money already spent on some decent parts. Scott Morris Posted October 1, 2011 Author Report Posted October 1, 2011 what about the pro circut exhaust, is that a good system? seams to sound pretty good. also looks like i have a 2 into one k&n filter instead of 2 seperate filters. Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 You'll be able to run away from that 450 if you port it! Quote
