banshee15 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 i found a banshee that totally need re build it need new oil seals maybe crank bearings, clutch, water pump, chain sprockets, clutch cable, cylinders need board out to .40 over, new pistons, what is it worth and also it has title Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 If everything else is in great condition I'd say no more than $1500 if it needs motorwork like that. If you can get it cheap and know how to rebuild the engine yourself you can end up with a ported banshee with some hot parts for cheap. However, if this is your first time tearing down an engine and rebuilding, you must have plenty of patience and a healthy attention span. A keen attention to detail helps too. If you pay a shop to rebuild it, chances are parts and labor will cost more than the banshee is worth. Quote
Trueblown Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 I see those kind go for 500-1000 Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 like that 750-1000 around my area Quote
bansheeyfz450 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Unless its in really good condition, I would agree $1000 on the high side $600 on the low side. Quote
RollinRhino Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Don't offer more than $1000 for it. You can get a complete running one needing almost nothing for $2000. The one you are looking at is going to set you back on top of the purchase price another $1000 before you are done. Quote
vifferman Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 There's one on CL here in Tucson for $700 that needs a rebuild, still no takers. If I didn't just rebuilt 2 bikes from the ground up I might be interested but it's time to stop building and start riding! Quote
banshee15 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 well i gave em 200$ cash so i got a great deal Quote
vifferman Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 well i gave em 200$ cash so i got a great deal You got a REALLY good deal! Now it's time to clean it up good, check for any problems like loose or broken bolts and maybe even get it powdercoated! Post up pics of your progress, we all want to see the transformation. Quote
AllBlackEverything Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 That was a free bike basically .. U can't buy a plus 2 stem for 200 new .. And u got a whole bike for that .. Nice !! Quote
252wheelieking Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 (edited) I paid $600 cash for this & wouldn't pay more than $1000. The previous owner thought that it needed a top end rebuild & the only thing it needed was a CDI box. About $3500 later here she is: motor currently getting rebuilt Edited August 25, 2011 by 252wheelieking Quote
vifferman Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 sooo it went from super gay to just gay? I'm glad he updated the pic cause that didn't look like $3500 worth. The new one isn't a whole lot better, I'm assuming it's in the motor. Sorry for taking over this thread. You got a great deal! Decide what kind of riding you want to do and then look around for ideas about motor and suspension types to fit your needs. After that it's all about the $. Quote
AllBlackEverything Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 ^^^ what's the speed limit on dick riding round here zilla? .. And I also think u should wear a helmet while Doing it .. Safety first! Quote
