decon Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Has anyone ever shaved a set of paddles? Im looking into doing a set of my own, only single buff or b2b not tripple buff. I've searched on the forum and came up empty, so if anyone has an experience or tips please share. Or should I just leave this up to a professional? Quote
springer Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 i would have to imagine that is something that should be left to the pro's. or atleast someone with the proper equipment to do it right. ive never heard of anyone actually buffing a tire themselves. taking tread or knobs off, sure... but not buffing. DallasGDub Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 A few years ago, I seen someone do this to some fronts to make some smoothies. Looked cool. But it did not come out the same as a "buffed" tire you buy. Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 whats the worst that can happen?? Says this as tire explodes in guys face, or hand gets caught in belt-sander he's trying to use to "buff" his tires. lol! Quote
octigonwallrus Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 I buffed a set of 22x11x8 dune hoppers for my 450r. There a molded tire. I buffed them bead2bead with a palm sander and some 20 grit paper. It took about three solid hours a piece to make em look nice. Didn't save a bunch of weight but made them more pliable and flex a little better. Plus they looked smooth. I've also seen a Guy use a hot knife. He actually shaved off a lot of weight Quote
4MiLLDraGSheE Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I looked into doing this a while back. Couple of guys on planet sand said they would do it for me for a charge. Told me its hard to do right and makes alot of mess. Quote
