People still ride without helmets? :shootself:

Yeah, the dumbasses. That kind of shit would never fly during the regular season. People were probably doing it because there were no cops out there, and it was 110 degrees out. Still no excuse. I stand by my previous statement that those people are dumbasses.

I like the one dude with the boots and knee guards, and no fuckin' helmet. What an idiot. Better make sure those ankles don't get broken when you crash. Don't mind the head.

Man, alot of people crying about this!! How about next time go to night drags and say something to these guys and see what happens?

Sorry James. I didn't know this was a touchy subject with you. We're not crying, just stating facts and the obvious. I guess there's really no major loss to society when/if these guys break their heads at 70mph. Darwin's theory.

Must have just been the crowd that showed up to the drags this time. I went to the drags in June, and didn't see a single person without a helmet. Last year I don't recall seeing anyone racing without a helmet.

The fact of the matter is, the SAME guys who ride without helmets, lights, and flags, are the same morons bitching about "there's too many cops at the dunes". "The cops always fuck with people for no reason". Follow the rules, and it won't give the cops a reason to dick with everyone for no flag. The same guys who enjoy this sport, are the ones ruining it. One of the main reasons I bought a buggy, and got rid of my bike. I hate being lumped in with the morons.

This falls into the same category as those idiots "banshee biker boyz" or whatever the hell they call themselves. They ride their shit on the HIGHWAYS, video tape it, then put it on the internet and ruin it for the rest of the law abiding citizens who just want ride their bike on some private land.

I guess I just don't see what the appeal is to NOT wearing a helmet? Weight savings? They make lightweight helmets that weigh less than the two beers that these idiots consumed right before climbing on their machine and doing 70+mph up a hill without a helmet. I suppose helmets aren't aerodynamic, but in a unsanctioned hill race, I doubt a little bit of wind resistance will make or break the night for anyone.

Who says we don't?

No one in our group rides without one and we won't ride with anyone that doesn't. If they were to crash we would be brought into the mess, literally and figuratively.

Most guys you talk to about wearing helmets are idiots (duh, no helmet) and don't listen. Once in a while they will put it on next time. Even less often they put it on before the ride.

My personal favorite is the guy on the street bike with his helmet strapped to the bike. banghead

Well Matt, it's not a touchy subject to me. As I wear my helmet when I ride. All I'm saying is next time your feeling brave and want to call someone a "moron" or "idiot" for not wearing a helmet, then man up and let them know to their face. If you wont say it to their face then you have no bussniss saying it.

Thank you.... I'm at dumont most of the main holidays, please let me know when this will be going down.

James, I used to do it for a living... Perhaps you didn't know that. Also, I'm not going to argue with you... I am allowed to state my opinion, am I not?

Edit: Just thought of something. These must be all of James' friends riding without helmets. No sane person would get this defensive over someone they don't even know, unless they were trying to be devils advocate.

Alot of sh!t. Talking here. First of all the laker bike we couldn't get it to run or even launch. Tht bike never even went up the hill or ! Reason being why no helmet was worn because of constant adjustments to try and figure out what the hell was the problem and no power! If you guys would of been there you would of known.! Not our fault pic was taken when we were just trying to diagnose a problem! Can't speak for other guy with no helmet. You feel like you got more to say PM Me.

My problem is with people that ride with no helmet. If you're putting around trying to get a bike to run how fast are you going, for how long and where are you riding? Probably not fast, far, or where there are other people riding at speed.

It's not just about you, especially when there are multiple people shooting the hill or flat dragging. Any one of those bikes could fail in any number of ways and hit you or you them.

Not to mention the bad light it puts our sport in. That's all we need, more restrictions and area closures.

How long does it take to put on a helmet before you ride? What's your face worth? Your life worth?

You have freewill and can choose not to wear a helmet and we have the same freedom to voice our opinion.

Look at all the other pictures see me with a helmet? Yes. Point being this was strictly testing and diagnosing a bike. Didn't get passed the launch ramp. I wouldn't ride a bike up a hill without a helmet. Case closed.

No one said you would. No one is pointing fingers. No one is calling you out.

It sounds like you agree with the rest of us, why are you so upset?

Took it personal since I was in one of shots diagnosing bike. But yes I don't encourage riding without helmet.

im going to agree, helmets are a 100% and I am out at dumont during the holiday weekends, and BLM are cool as long as u got a helmet and a flag, as cool as the helicopter is, i HATE the thought that someone is being taken away in it just because no helmet. Props to helmets!
