Zwiser Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 So this is my first liquid cooled atv, so idk if this is just normal or what, but after like 2 minutes of riding, I felt the cylinders and they are rather hot (like i cant keep my fingers on the for more than 10 seconds before my reactions tell me to move them) This is the first time ive started it after the rebuild. When i first got it i torn it down and found that the stock impelor had seized so i replaced it with a billet one and got a new gear and bearing and seal. There are no airleaks and jetting is good maybe a little rich. Also there is some white particles foating in my coolant, but im guessing its from the white lithium grease i put on the orings of the cool head. I can see the coolant flowing through the rad at idle but when i rev it, it viberates to much to see. Quote
lms1977 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 after riding mine for a few minutes it's hot enough you would not want to hold your hand on the jugs. Quote
Zwiser Posted July 18, 2011 Author Report Posted July 18, 2011 what happends if it gets to hot? will it seize or just shut off Quote
Larry's Shee Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Exhaust leaves the cylinder at 1200+ degrees, hmmmmmmmmmmmm Long as it's not puking coolant Quote
06specialedition Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 They run hot....I've done a larger radiator, chariot impeller, mull impeller gear, engine ice....etc. They still like to run warm, just make sure you are jetted correctly and you'll be fine. Once your water temps reach about 210-220 I would shut it down.......you dont want to melt your motor down. Quote
Zwiser Posted July 19, 2011 Author Report Posted July 19, 2011 so id have to get a water temp gauge? to find out when to shut it down. Quote
