Hey guys, I just bought my first banshee last weekend. Its kinda in pieces and would for sure be labeled as a project. Ive never seen, ridden, or even heard a running banshee with my own ears and eyes etc, but I hear good things, and I thought it was a pretty good deal. Im sure Ill be on here asking for more info and help in the coming weeks, but my first question is this:

Out of a completely stock banshee, what kind of power and speed am I looking at? I dont have alot of experience with racing bikes, most of my riding has been done on 4x4 atvs. The only thing I have personally ridden is my friend's stock Honda 700. The 700 was pretty powerful (at least to me). Compared to the Honda, how does a Banshee measure up? I guess im basically asking what am I in store for??.. cause I plan for this to be a long and fun project, and I plan to own this bike for a long time.

All comments are welcome, and thanks for the help in advance.

Welcome to BHQ! Take some pics of the bike, post them here and tells us more about it. Why is it taken apart? Blown Motor? I think a stock Banshee is in the same ballpark performance wise as a stock 700? Im new here as well, so I don't know for sure. Im sure someone will chine in. The good news is Banshees are pretty easy to work on, and not too expensive as well. There seems to be plenty of used parts available here in the For Sale Section. There are a lot of experienced and helpful folks here as well. Good luck with your Banshee and keep us posted on your progress.

I will upload some pics this weekend. The more I look at the bike the more I think I got a steal. It seems to have an aftermarket suspension front and back.. Im not sure if its stretched out any, but its definately widened, and the " arms" of the suspension look different than stock. I dont know anything thats been done to the bike for sure. The motor is in pieces, but all the pieces are there, for better or for worse. Im sooo ready for the weekend so I can dig into it a lil more.. o yea by the way, I already have the clymer manual in my possession :).
