johnskx125 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Ok so bought a banshee with a 350 long rod motor, ..Hotrod crank... it needed a top end rebuild. So my question, how would I get power out of this motor, I mean what would you guys recommend for top end rebuild? Is the 350 long rod comparable to a 4mil? Quote
dirtydownunder Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 no, a +4mm crank is increasing the stroke thus increasing displacement and hp/tq, a long rod(has 5 mm longer conrods) moves the pin hight of the piston (long rod pistons has the pin moved 5mm higher) higher so when the piston is at TDC, the time the piston is at TDC is longer and makes for a smoother transition from when the piston reaches its peak travel and comes back down again (increased dwelll time) and there is less side load on the piston. send your topend to a sponsor on here http://www.bansheehq.com/yz-banshee-specs-sponsors.html talk to them about where and how you ride and what mods you already have and they will port it for you. porting is the best mod to do to a two stroke.
