justify008 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Opened up my banshee for the first time to find out it had been bored by the previous owner. The current bore size of the jug is ~65.9326. Now I know the rings take up some room but I don't know how much. I want to get wiseco prolites for it and need to know if its 65mm 65.25mm or 65.5mm any help would be appreciated. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Check your compression, no need to just switch out pistons if it's still fresh and had adequate compression still. Quote

Oh ya I forgot to mention that I blew a head gasket thats why I took it apart and the right piston was all dinged up so i decided to change them both. Quote

If you are repacing the pistons you should probably bore it also so everything has the proper clearances and the rings seat properly. But with that measurement, you might already be at 66mm. If you clean the piston tops, there should be a size marked on them. Quote

If you clean the piston tops, there should be a size marked on them. It was measured with a dial caliper on the jug. I brought the jug to a local machine shop and asked him to check it, I know it wasn't the most accurate way but it was my only option. I cleaned the top and the only numbers i found were 150. Does that mean its 1.50 mm over? Quote
